Hiru calmly removed his suit jacket and tolled up the sleeves on his dress shirt, while jack pulled off his button up flannel shirt.
the both calmly set them on hooks on the nearby pillars and readied themselves.
Hiru's blade was held low, about waist height and angled up in a classic samurai stance a smirk on his face.
jack held his blade high and flat, arms cocked near his head as he watched, a similar smile on his face.
"first to hit wins the round."
'3 rounds."
"and... start"
Hiru dashed with a sharp flat strike, while jack strafes sideways around a pillar to block.
they both moved fast and confident.

Mai was running late. She had accidentally fallen asleep on her train ride home and by the time she woke up she was half way across town and had to ride the train all the way back to her stop. She had already called her mother and explained the situation but was still eager to get home.

He looked slightly over to the girl sitting. She seemed to be athletic but not so much so. He believed he had seen her around. 2nd year maybe? Nah, too young looking. He though she was very pretty in the least. Oh no it was happening again. He was falling in love!

Mai looked out the window hoping in vain to see something she recognized. When that failed she sighed softly and looked around at the other people in the train car. One in particular was a tall young man with dark black almost blue looking hair. She couldn't help looking at the boy feeling as if she'd seen him before.
Was it at school maybe? While running? He looks so familiar. I hope he's not some I should know but have forgotten,she thought not noticing that she was still staring at him.

He noticed that she had been watching him. He closed his book and leaned down to talk to her. "Miss. I'd hate to be intrusive, but may I ask your name?" He pushed his glasses back up on the ridge of his nose.

Mai jumped a little in her seat caught of guard by his sudden desire to talk to her. Okay, here's your chance to make a good impression. Let's do this right, she thought to herself but when she opened her mouth to speak no words came out and her mind went blank. Wait what was my name again?!
"I'm uh....um..." she stuttered her mind in a panic as she desperately tried to remember basic facts about herself however only the growing blush on her face showed that she was under any type of distress. "I....forgot...sorry." She said at last hanging her head in embarrassment.

He chuckled. "It is alright." He patted her slumped head softly. "I am Horai Yamasato." He looked out the window.

Kumiko leaned forward, hands clasped in her lap, watching the blades flash and clash.

"Jack, you are amazing!" She grinned wide and continued watching.

Momoko clapped along with Kumiko. It was rather entertaining seeing two guys fight with swords.

Mai's eyes widen, surprised by him patting her head and by his name. She had heard that name before but usually from the mouths of the giggling gossiping girls in her class. Now that I look at him he's exactly like they described, She thought as she peeked up at him her head still bowed. Then it hit her.

"Mai!" she said suddenly, quickly sitting up straight. She paused when she realized how loud she was and tried to relax a bit. "Kobayashi. My name is Mai Kobayashi. It's a nice to finally meet you, Yamasato-san. We go to the same school. I've heard people talking about you. Your are well liked."

Horai was a little surprised by her sudden movement and proclamation of her name. "Well it is nice to meet you Kobayashi-San." He held out his hand to her.

She took it and smiled at him "Thank you."

He looked her up and down. "I'd hate to say I was looking at you...But you seem very athletic." He said ans blushed lightly.

"Oh thank you," she said blushing as well, "I like being outside whether it's playing football or work in my garden. I also exercise a lot because my whole family is very active. What about you?"

He chuckled. "My whole family is very active." He said and began to talk off his heavy jacket.

As he took off his jacket it occurred to her that he might be tired after a long day. "Oh I'm sorry do you need help or would you like to sit down," she said moving her things and scooting over to give him as much room as she could next to her. "My stop is next so you'll have a bit more room when I get up."

"That's really kind of you, but my stop is about to come up soon. Mine is the next stop also, so need to worry." He gave her a smile and folded his jacket over his arm.

She wasn't sure what it was but just by seeing him smile Mai did too. "Since we get off at the same stop I hope that means we'll be able to see each other often. I've enjoyed talking to you and we seem to have a lot in common."

He nodded. "If you would like to maybe you could stop over at the track after school tomorrow? We could go home together." He said and walked close to the door, it was going to open soon.

"Okay, I'd like that," she said grabbing her bag and following him to the doors. When they opened she walked with him out of the train station.

When they made it onto the street he looked to the left and right. "Which way do you go? Right or left?" He asked looking at her.

She looked in the direction she was going, pointing down the street to the right."I live this way. What about you?"

"That's pretty funny." He said as he began walking down the street. "I too live down this way."

She laughed a little and smiled at Horai as she walked beside him."Really? That is pretty funny. All this time we've lived so close to each other but we've never even noticed. Maybe you should come over sometime and we do homework together or something."

He nodded. "Pretty funny. Yes it is." He began walking a little faster. He was happy to be near somewhere with this girl.
